Position Description: |
Essential Functions • Review and accept timber harvest plans. • Investigate agriculture pollution complaints and assist with complaint resolution. • Manage cover crop cost share program. • Assist NRCS with contract check out tasks. • Provide technical assistance to customers related to conservation BMPs. • Manage agriculture equipment rental program, including maintenance of rental equipment. • Manage vehicle fleet. • Participate in and earn certification professional development related to agriculture conservation including but not limited to the Ohio Department of Agriculture Technical Development Program (TDP) 1 and TDP 2. |
Brief Description: |
The Agricultural Conservation Technician coordinates and provides assistance for agriculture conservation practices under NRCS (Natural Resources Conservation Service) guidelines. Possessing and maintaining a working knowledge of current local, state and federal policies and best practices is critical to the role. |
Job Prerequisites: |
General Qualifications • Graduate of an accredited college with an Associate’s Degree (preferably in agriculture, natural resources management, environmental science or related field); or an equivalent combination of education and experience. • Willingness to perform a combination of technical office (75%) and outdoor field work (25%). • Ability to interact with and provide excellent customer service. • Understanding of natural resource management principles. • Familiarity with agricultural and urban development Best Management Practices. • Ability to traverse uneven terrain in an outdoor environment. • Ability to carry and transport resource materials and equipment. • Demonstration of computer literacy • Excellent communication, including written and verbal skills. • Proof of valid Ohio driver’s license and remain insurable. • Ability to pass a Licking County pre-employment drug screening and Federal background security check. • Understand and adhere to the Licking County Soil and Water Conservation District policy manual |
