Position Description: |
Essential Duties: - Gather relevant information on preferences, strengths, interests, needs, and skills through the use of person centered tools, formal and informal assessment(s), one-on-one interviews, observations, records reviews, and discussion with the person, family, friends and others;
- Assist eligible persons and their support teams to consider the range of employment possibilities and to make informed decision(s) about employment. Identify and develop employment outcome(s). Recommend adjustments to employment outcome(s) based on listening and learning;
- Assist the person and his/her team in identifying key preparatory steps, such as acquisition of job readiness skills, work experience and benefits analysis, as appropriate. Collaborate with school district personnel and educators to inform the IEP process, including goal setting;
- Assist the person and his/her team with identifying and interviewing potential willing and qualified employment services providers when required by funding source; Once employment services provider(s) are selected by the person, provide technical assistance and training to the provider with respect to action plan development and execution as needed;
- Promote and support communication between team members related to the person’s progress or lack of progress towards achieving employment and/or successfully accomplishing identified preparatory steps on the person’s path to employment. Participate in ISP meetings with Service Coordinators;
- Actively link/refer, coordinate, encourage and support preparation for and transition to employment involving as appropriate educators, vocational rehabilitation, workforce centers, employment services (job development and job coaching) providers, benefits planning, transportation services and other employment wrap around services.

Brief Description: |
The Employment Support Specialist is primarily responsible for achieving high quality employment outcomes for transition aged youth with developmental disabilities through utilizing person-centered career planning. |
Job Prerequisites: |
Qualifications: - Minimum of Associate’s degree required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Ability to meet DoDD Service and Support Administrator certification requirements.
- Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
- Current and valid Ohio driver’s license with an acceptable driver’s abstract to meet the county’s insurability requirements
- Excellent time management skills. Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, written, and interpersonal) for effective interaction with internal and external customers and in a team environment.
- Previous knowledge or experience in programs or services for people with developmental disabilities and knowledge of community resources.
