Position Description:

Duties:

  • Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
  • Contacts witnesses for trial-related interviews, etc. related to the activities of the Adult Felony/Juvenile Division.
  • Answers questions from victims and witnesses about case status, schedules, available resources for assistance, and miscellaneous other matters, related to the activities of the Adult Felony/Juvenile Division.
  • Gathers information from crime victims, their families, and case files for Victims of Crime Compensation Program, processes paperwork, and submits to the State of Ohio Court of Claims, and supplements information as necessary; notifies victims of any responses received by Prosecutor’s Office, all as being related to the activities of the Adult Felony/Juvenile Division.
  • Remains informed of current developments and procedures pertinent to duties.
  • Gathers information from victims who may qualify for compensation and submits necessary paperwork to Victims of Crime Compensation fund as related to the activities of the Adult Felony/Juvenile Division.
  • Works with qualifying victims, and victim’s families to get them engaged with necessary counseling and/or other available community services as related to the activities of the Adult Felony/Juvenile Division.
  • Completes Crisis Intervention Training through National Organization for Victim Advocacy (NOVA)
  • Assist victims with the filing of Civil Protection Orders
  • Assists with locating survivors and families of victims with cases coming before the Ohio Parole Board
  • Helps to make sure Marsy’s Law is enforced in the criminal justice system
  • Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to the essential functions of the position and all agency safety procedures.

Brief Description:
  • Contacts witnesses for trial-related interviews, etc. related to the activities of the Adult Felony/Juvenile Division.
Job Prerequisites:

Minimum Qualifications:

Associates degree in social work, criminal justice or related field

Experience or training in operation of adult felony criminal justice system and juvenile justice system.

Prior experience working with victims of crime is a plus.

Additional Qualifications (Agency/Dept. Qualifications):

Must be organized, dependable and works well with the public. Able to patiently work with people who have experienced significant trauma on a daily basis
