Position Description: |
Duties: - Provides customer service to the general public, attorneys, and court personnel in person, by telephone, and by email
- Dockets, scans, and processes court documents related to Common Pleas Court cases that are presented in person, through the mail, and via eFile
- Files pleadings electronically through the case management system utilizing tasks & queues
- Conducts research in relation to public records requests
- Prepares and maintains records as required; prepares various types of correspondence
- Process payments for filing deposits, court costs, bonds and other financial transactions
- Must responsibly handle public moneys as well as secured documents
- Promotes and maintains positive and effective working relationships within the Clerk’s office, the Courts, with other county offices and departments, in addition to promoting good public relationships as a representative of Licking County Government
- Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to the essential functions of the position and all agency safety procedures
- Remains informed of current developments and procedures pertinent to duties; may be required to attend seminars/training
- Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance and punctuality
- Other duties may be assigned

Brief Description: |
Under general supervision, provides customer service on behalf of the Clerk of Courts; assists public and performs various duties related to departmental operations. This position requires exceptional communication abilities, with a particular emphasis on active listening and the ability to understand and respond appropriately to the needs of the public. A successful candidate will have a genuine desire to help others while maintaining professionalism, neutrality, and strict adherence to applicable laws, court rules, and office policies. The role demands emotional intelligence and the ability to manage one’s own emotions in challenging or high-stress situations, as well as strong critical-thinking skills to ask appropriate questions and provide accurate guidance within established boundaries. The ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment and communicate professionally in person, over the phone, and through written correspondence such as email is essential to providing consistent, respectful, and high-quality public service. |

Job Prerequisites: |
Minimum Qualifications: Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree (A.A., B.A., or B.S.) or equivalent from a two-year or four-year college or technical school with a major course work in legal studies, social work, criminal justice, public administration, or a related field; and, 6 – 18 months of experience and/or training in related field. Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. Additional Qualifications (Agency/Dept. Qualifications): Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including active listening and the ability to communicate professionally in person, by telephone, and in writing. Ability to provide effective customer service while maintaining professionalism, neutrality, and composure in emotionally sensitive or high-stress situations. Demonstrated organizational, multitasking, and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to prioritize work, manage frequent interruptions, and meet deadlines. Ability to responsibly handle public funds, confidential information, and secured documents with accuracy and discretion. Proficiency with basic computer applications and the ability to learn court procedures, case management systems, and applicable laws and office policies. Valid Driver's License. Must be able to lift 25 lbs. |
