Commission Members


jones Gary Jones is the President of the Licking County Veterans’ Service Commission representing the Vietnam Veterans’ of America. He served in the United States Navy from 1964-1969 and during that time served two tours in Vietnam. He is a Life Member of VVA Chapter 55, a member of the VFW Post #1060, a member of the Licking County Veterans’ Alliance, member of the Veterans Initiative Task Force & board member of the Agent Orange/Dioxin Committee. Gary has served on the commission since March 8, 2006.


David Conner is the Vice President of the Licking County Veterans’ Service Commission representing the American Legion. He served in the U. S. Navy from 1973 to 1977. He served the first two years in the Ceremonial Guard in Washington DC. He served the next two years aboard the USS Ortolan ASR 22 in Norfolk Va. He is a life member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 55, He serves as Vice Commander of American Legion Post 398 and is Commander of the Licking County Veterans Alliance. He was chosen as Licking County Veteran of the Year in 2015 and 2022. He joined the Commission in January 2025.


 Dan Ohde is the Secretary of the Licking County Veterans' Service Commission at large. He Served honorably in the United States Navy from 1967 to 1970 and was stationed at Naval Air Station Patuxent River in Maryland with Patrol Squadron 49 (VP-49). During his assignment, the squadron operated P-3C Orion aircraft, and Mr. Ohde served as an aircraft maintainer.  In May 1968, VP-49 deployed to Naval Air Station Sangley Point in the Philippines and to Royal Thai Air Force Base U-Tapao, Thailand, conducting patrol operations over the South China Sea.  These deployments continued through December 1968.  In May 1970, the squadron was again deployed, this time to Keflavik, Iceland, where it conducted anti-submarine patrols monitoring Soviet submarine activity.  Mr. Ohde has been a member of the American Legion for 54 years. He served as the 6th District Commander of the American Legion, Department of Ohio, from 1979 to 1980. He is currently a member of American Legion Post 764 in Hanover, Ohio, and is a lifetime member of Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 55.  Mr. Ohde began his service as a Veterans' Service Commissioner in January of 2026.
