eFileOH Electronic Filing

Welcome to the Licking County Clerk of Courts eFileOH page for the electronic filing (“e-filing”) of case documents into court records for the Domestic Relations and General Divisions of the Licking County Court of Common Pleas, as well as cases and documents filed in the Licking County Court of Appeals (5th Appellate District).  Please carefully read the following terms and conditions of use and click “Yes, I agree” at the bottom of this page to proceed to the e-filing portal.

E-filing is offered subject to the Clerk of Courts Electronic Filing Policy, statutory requirements, other applicable laws and rules, and configuration of the e-filing portal by the third party vendor responsible for the service.

If you use this e-filing functionality, you agree to hold the Licking County Clerk of Courts harmless from any and all losses, damages, liability, omissions, or claims which may arise directly or indirectly from information obtained and used or misused from this website or the use or misuse of the electronic filing functionality itself.  Misuse of data or documents includes but is not limited to activity that would violate any provisions of federal, state, or local law.

This portal allows users to perform the following tasks:  1) file documents with the Clerk; 2) file documents with the Clerk and electronically serve (when applicable) opposing parties with electronic copies of those documents; or 3) electronically serve copies of documents upon opposing parties.  Some case types and some types of documents are not permitted to be electronically filed with the Clerk and are listed as follows:  Pleadings intended to initiate new criminal cases in the Court of Common Pleas; registration of foreign judgments; civil stalking and sexually oriented offender civil protection orders; domestic violence and dating violence civil protection orders; cognovit actions; garnishments; depositions; transcripts of proceedings from agency/administrative matters; search warrants and returns on search warrants; and pleadings or other documents to be filed in cases that are sealed by the Court.  Documents submitted electronically for filing remain in a “submitted” queue pending review and approval by the Clerk, which takes place during normal business hours.  Submissions that are subsequently approved and filed will generally bear a time stamp that relates back to the date and time of submission.

As additional functionality is added over time, petitions and complaints to initiate new cases may be immediately available for public viewing prior to Clerk review and approval.  Such case documents will neither bear a case number nor a time stamp reflecting that the documents have actually been filed.  Care should be taken before relying upon documents available for public viewing in the e-filing portal that have been submitted but not filed.

Payment methods for submissions that require payment of a security deposit or fee include credit cards and electronic checks.  Your account will not be charged until the submission has been reviewed and accepted for filing by the Clerk.  If the filer is financially unable to prepay the cost, a civil deposit or fee application waiver request and affidavit, with completed financial disclosure form, may be submitted with the documents to be e-filed.  Be advised that submission of a deposit or fee waiver request does not necessarily mean the request will be granted by the Court.  A filer’s ability to pay costs is subject to review by the Court at any time during the proceedings.

The general rule is that all court records are available for public access.  DO NOT SELECT A “CONFIDENTIAL” SECURITY STATUS FOR YOUR E-FILING SUBMISSIONS UNLESS YOU HAVE VALID LEGAL AUTHORITY TO JUSTIFY THAT STATUS, OR YOUR DOCUMENTS MAY BE REJECTED FOR FILING.  Lead documents that only require specific data within the document to be redacted (such as Social Security Numbers or the names of victims of criminal offenses) may be submitted with a “public” security status and the required redactions clearly identified.  In such cases, a personal identifier form should be completed and submitted as an attachment to the lead document.  Personal identifier forms should be filed with a “confidential” security status.  Questions about this procedure should be directed to the Clerk’s office during normal business hours.  Please also review Rules 44-47 of the Rules of Superintendence for the Court of Ohio, before proceeding to the e-filing portal.

Certain parts of this website and the e-filing functionality may be unavailable to you during periods of maintenance activity or system outages.  We regret any inconvenience this may cause you.  In the event the system is unavailable to the public, we will communicate this information on the Clerk’s website.
