Park District Planning Summer Concerts at Gazebo Park

For a second consecutive year the Licking Park District, in conjunction with the County and City of Newark, is hosting a series of four FREE ‘Summer Concerts on the Lawn’ at the Children’s Home Memorial and Gazebo Park in east Newark (former Children’s Home site on East Main Street near O’Bannon Avenue).

All concerts run from 6:00pm till 8:30pm.

On Thursday evening June 16th the concert will feature the band ‘Drifter Kings’.  They are a contemporary blues/roots band from Central Ohio performing original arranged blues classics in a wide range of styles from Piedmont to Delta to Chicago. The Drifter Kings were Columbus Blues Alliance 2019 Blues Challenge winners and represented Central Ohio in the 2020 International Blues Challenge in Memphis.

June attendees will be able to enjoy a food truck - Poppy's Roadside Diner

On Thursday evening July 7th the concert will feature the band ‘InnerVision’.  They are a duo of life-long friends Genene Blackwell (keyboards and vocals) and Sam Shepherd (vocals, harmonica, trombone, guitar).  Since 2009 this internationally award-winning cover band and Nashville recording artists have brought joy and inspiration through music to thousands with both live performances as well as through their self-titled debut CD.

On Thursday August 4th the concert will feature the band ‘Big Bad Stache’.  This group engages audiences by playing cover songs you know – ranging from 50’s/60’s rock & roll, 70’s blues-inspired rock, and a mix of 90’s alternative.
