Long Range Transportation Plan

Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs) are mandated to prepare a Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) also known as a long range transportation plan (LRTP) to vision and create objectives as determined by the MPO, state department of transportation, and public transportation providers to responsibly develop, operate, and maintain the area's multi-modal transportation network. These plans have a minimum of a 20-year horizon and must encompass freight, transit, highway, active transportation, and accessibility, while also being fiscally constrained and meeting economic, development, and sustainability goals of the region.
