Unified Planning Work Program
Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs) are required to develop an annual Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP) to govern work programs for the expenditure of Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and Federal Transit Administration (FTA) planning funds. This document is meant as a statement of planning priorities and activities to be carried out within a metropolitan planning area with the descriptions of the work and end products of such, along with the breakdown of who will do the work, the time frame it will be completed in, and the cost and funding sources of the work. This document helps with tracking and transparency of federal money and MPO productivity and prioritization.
